Shelly Brady

Shelly Brady, the author of the New York Times bestseller, Ten Things I Learned from Bill Porter, was a teenager when she first met and worked with Bill Porter, watching and learning from him. She recognized early on that Bill’s story could inspire others the way he inspired her. In 1995, a local newspaper told Bill’s story, and from there it escalated into a segment on ABC’s 20/20. Soon thereafter, her book was released and she worked as a creative consultant on the Emmy Award winning movie, Door to Door starring William H. Macy.

The lessons Shelly learned from Bill may seem simple, and they are, but they can teach us to live profoundly happy and fulfilled lives. The biggest lesson that Bill and Shelly have to teach us is that each one of us can make a difference.  As Bill says, “Never doubt that your life is important.” And you can change the world, one door at a time.
