Dan Shurtliff, Senior Program-mer Systems Analyst, has been with Columbia Ultimate for 22 years. As a long-time employee and one of the early members of Columbia Ultimate, he has seen the company evolve and grow into one of the forefront leaders in the collection industry. What’s more, he helped build The Collector System to what it is today.

What does Dan enjoy about working at Columbia Ultimate? “The people, the innovation and the ongoing learning,” he says. Most important to Dan are his colleagues. “It’s important to me to work in an environment where I am genuinely happy to see my associates. Columbia Ultimate is great because of our people.”

Although Dan spends much of his days focused on coding and documentation, and does not have much direct client contact, he finds it rewarding to hear from clients – especially if it’s something he has done that has brought value to them.

Dan, along with his wife Christine, enjoys spending time with his family (6 children, 11 grandchildren) and following his favorite sports team, the Oregon State Beavers (he’s the proud owner of Columbia Ultimate’s Beaver Corner). He keeps his mind sharp by reading ‘cheap dime novels’, doing cross-sums, Sudoku, and, “Okay, I kind of like spreadsheets too.”
